On June 13th, Florida Governor Rick Scott Signed into law some much needed safety improvements to the current Dive Flag Laws. The new additions to existing Dive Flag laws are not earth shattering but do offer a good improvement for divers and boaters alike.
In the new law, which goes into effect on July 1, 2014, divers will be allowed to choose between a traditional dive flag or a buoy that has the dive flag clearly displayed on at least 3 of it’s 4 sides. Divers have been using buoy’s in the past and have received fines. The old and outdated dive flag laws in Florida are finally being changed at the relief of many divers.
